In a daring rescue today Rudolph, the red nosed reindeer saved a small elf child from drowning when the ice broke on the skating pond.The elf children were playing on the pond just before lunch, when one young child strayed too far and crossed into the area of the pond where the ice is thin. The ice cracked and gave way plunging the child into the freezing water beneath. Rudolph who was on a training exercise with his fellow reindeer nearby, rushed to the child's aid. At great risk to himself he crossed into the thin ice area and plucked the child from the water on his antlers. After he and the child had been given hot cocoa and checked over by Mrs Claus in the infirmary, Santa presented Rudolph with a medal for his bravery. | |

Last night was the annual Elves vs Reindeer Ice Hockey match. It was an exciting match they played into a cliff hanger overtime period.The pace of the game was set early when Comet wristed a shot past Ernesco at 2:10 of the first -- with Vixen in the penalty box -- for his first goal, to put the Reindeer's team ahead 1-0. Dasher also scored a goal for the Reindeer team finishing the first period with the score Reindeer's 2 - elves nil. The elves team responded well in the second period with Elmore and Captain Ernesco each scoring one goal in the second. Ernesco scored his goal just before the second period buzzer to tie the score at 2-2. The third period was a valiant battle for control with Elmore and Blitzen both being sent to the penalty box for tripping and slashing. Vixen scored early in the period putting the Reindeer's ahead 3-2, with the Elves scoring again only seconds from the third period buzzer to tie the game at 3 all. The match then went into a nail-biting overtime period with captain of the Reindeer team, Blitzen scoring the winning goal with a stick breaking slap shot, mere seconds before the overtime buzzer sounded. The final score was Reindeer 4 - Elves 3. In an interview after the game Captain Blitzen said: "I was very nervous at the start of the game. The last thing we wanted to do was lose for our third year in a row. We had to win tonight. We knew coming into the game we had to play desperate hockey." |

December 20 - Annual Ice Skating race: Section for Junior skaters under 12 and an open section for over 12's. December 24 - Don't forget all hands on Deck to help Santa load the sleigh for the big trip. Mrs Claus will supply lots of hot cocoa and warm, fresh baked cookies to all those assisting. December 25 - After Santa's return, everyone may sleep as late as they wish. All who want to, can attend the special Christmas lunch prepared by Mrs Claus and her helpers at 1.00pm.
